Scout Councilor Alexandra Tagorda proposes Resolution number SOFAD 04-17 titled, "Requesting the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) to adopt an ordinance to strictly ban the sales and imports of chewing gum in the City of Baguio" at the SOFAD session on October 9.

With a vote of eight in favor and one against, Baguio City Scout Officials for A Day (SOFAD) approved the proposal of requesting the City Council to adopt an ordinance to ban the sale of chewing gums in Baguio.
The proposal, presented by Scout Councilor Alexandra Tagorda, was questioned before it was approved. Scout Councilor Andrei Kian Tan raised an inquiry as to why the said proposal be approved when a lot of Baguio residents consume chewing gums. Tagorda explained that chewing gums may cause tooth decay and it is also a sanitary problem in Baguio City.
“According to Doctor Joseph Mercola chewing gum can cause mouth disorder, it can incur jaw conditions and can be cancerous just like titanium dioxide,” Tagorda said.
After hearing Tagorda’s explanation, Tan pointed out that the proposal should also include the banning of momma and cigarette butts. Tagorda, however, defensively answered the concern by saying that she, at least, banned something whereas Tan didn’t. Tagorda’s comment gathered different reactions from the people in the session.
Tan then proposed for the amendment of the resolution to also include the banning of other products that contribute to sanitary problems.
Tagorda of University of Baguio Senior High School (UBSHS) took over Councilor Elaine Sembrano as the committee head for health and sanitation, ecology and environment protection.
Scouts from different schools in Baguio acted as government officials and took charge of the City Hall on October 9 as part of their leadership training in celebration of the National Scouting Month.
Scout Loida Faith B. Dalingay from Baguio City National High School (BCNHS), took over Vice Mayor Edison Bilog’s position and presided the annual Scout Officials for a Day (SOFAD) session.
Scouts who served as city councilors for the day were Scout Agnes Angelica Acay of Don Bosco School; Scout Jean Michael Tejada of DBSBC; Scout ChardineSeguiban of UBSHS; Scout Alexandra Krisha Danielle Tagorda of UBSHS; Scout Vhalerie Anne Lee of the University of Baguio Science High School; Scout Princess Jun Abata of Saint Louis University High School; Scout Krishna Lobchoy of ECHS; Scout Robert Sabelo of ECHS; Scout Ronald Ivan Valdez of ECHS; Scout Andrei Kian Tan of PCNHS; Scout Brevard Josh Nawen of ECHS; Scout Arvin Chua of Magsaysay National High School and Scout Angel Bumangil of Pines City National High School.
